By Leigh Oslin
In the 1800s, Missionary Amy Carmichael used colors on the flag that flew from her oxcart to evangelize villages in South India by giving the Gospel using colors. Charles Spurgeon, a notable Baptist preacher, taught biblical truth with these Gospel colors. For 50 years I have illustrated my messages using Gospel Colors.
God created a beautiful world filled with color. Colors are displayed from the tiniest flower to the grandest nebula in the starry sky. In the tabernacle in the wilderness and again, in Solomon’s Temple, colors of God’s creation were prominent and significant. It is the significance of these Gospel Colors that we use to apply spiritual truth.
The character of God
Holy: Pure and perfect in every way
The condition of man
Sinful: Dead in sin, condemned
The cost (price) of sin
Redemption: Christ’s death and resurrection
The cleansing from sin
Receiving: Accepting Christ’s sacrifice
The changed life
Spiritual life: a new person in Christ
